Improvers Weekend - Tony Joslin
2 days 10am-4.30pm Saturday and Sunday
19th & 20th August - *new* Fermentation Crocks
14th & 15th October - Plates & Pasta bowls
This is a rare chance to advance your throwing skills over an intensive weekend with Master Potter Tony Joslin. The two days will be split, with one focusing on learning new techniques and the other mastering them, as well as improving your existing skills. The course is for learners who would like to try new shapes under expert guidance and those wishing to improve, whatever your level. Your work will be bisque (once fired to 1000degrees) fired for you to collect at a later date.
Learning will be through demonstration of the techniques and then there will be a chance for you to try them for yourself. On the second day you will practise what you have learnt, with one-to-one help and a chance to ask for expert advise on your own throwing. There will also be advise on making larger forms.
All of your materials are included in the cost of the class. Your work will be bisque fired for you to collect at a later date. If you are unable to glaze your pots then you can arrange to join in with a glazing evening class. Space is limited to 8 students per course and you must have had previous experience of using the potters wheel. All classes are held in my studio on Stepney City Farm, Stepney Way, London E1 3DG.
This is taught by master potter, Tony Joslin. Tony has been a studio potter for over 40 years and is based in the New Forest. Having mastered the wheel, we always welcome his trips to London where he imparts his years of experience in studio pottery. He has developed glazes and techniques particular to traditions of studio pottery, including one of the best loved glaze combinations here at Jess Jos Pottery.
